I DID A GIG IN A PICTURE POSTCARD

I DID A GIG IN A PICTURE POSTCARD

A couple of weeks ago I did an article about my adoptive home La Herradura (Spain), my adoptive home for part of the year. I’m presently in Tirol, Austria, my other adoptive home for the other part of the year.

Over the years I’ve done some gigs in some awesome locations. New year’s Eve  1994 I did a gig with  Corne (Read more about Corne in the blog DANCING TO TAKE 5) at the Royal Hotel in Pilgrims Rest, in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. The town of Pilgrim’s Rest is preserved as it was as a gold rush town. Spectacular scenery. Nearby is God’s Window. If you ever saw the film the Gods must be crazy. At the end of the movie when Xi throws the Coke bottle off the end of the world. That is God’s Window.

In 1996,and 97 I was resident entertainer at the Piggs Peak hotel Swaziland. That was pretty much as good as it gets scenery wise.

However tonight’s gig in Austria must take first prize for the most spectacular setting I’ve ever played in. I was playing on the terrace of the 5 star Hotel Kaiserhof. A gourmet dinner was being served to the guests. I was playing dinner music. In the valley below was the Town of Ellmau. Straight ahead, and towering above me was the spectacular Wilder Kaiser mountain. The best way to describe the scene, is to say I DID A GIG IN A PICTURE POSTCARD.

As musicians we sometimes get to see and play in some spectacular places.  If you have done a gig IN A PICTURE POSTCARD please leave a comment telling us about it,and if possible leave a photo as well.
